This is a Martin and Son creation of the Bridgeport rig and more than likely the first fast draw holster. It was designed by L.S. Flatau as a pistol and carbine holder and patented on Jan 17th, 1882. Not many of these were made. It was said that he tried to get the military to adopt his device and was found unsuitable for the conditions with no protection offered from dust, dirt and moisture. Army surplus units made their way into the civilian market.

There is a large button head type hammer screw that slides into a slotted plate made of nickel plated spring steel and the revolver was just suspended from the holder. This is not an original Bridgeport attachment but a very accurate reproduction made in the 70's.
